Terms & Conditions
Last updated: July 2026
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By creating a MIO account, applying as a contributor or cultural partner, or otherwise using the public MIO platforms, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information.
MIO reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts or programmes that violate these terms or compromise the integrity of the cultural network.
2. Members
Members use the MIO member platform to discover cultural signals, manage membership tiers, book eligible experiences, and receive Mio Credits according to their tier. Member-specific rules in sections 5–10 below apply when you hold an active member account.
Membership tiers, credits, bookings, referrals, and cancellations are governed by the member policies in this document. If you interact with MIO only as a contributor or cultural partner, sections 3–4 apply together with the general provisions in sections 1 and 11–13.
3. Contributors
Contributors are independent writers, journalists, photographers, illustrators, and creators approved by MIO's editorial team. Contributor applications are reviewed periodically; approval is not guaranteed. Contributors must deliver work to agreed briefs, meet editorial standards, and respect confidentiality around unpublished assignments.
Contributor relationships are non-exclusive unless otherwise agreed in writing. MIO may feature contributor work across MIO Mag and related channels with credit as agreed. Contributors must not misrepresent their affiliation with MIO or use member-only tools without an eligible member account.
4. Cultural partners
Cultural partners are museums, heritage spaces, galleries, design platforms, culinary collectives, and similar organisations approved through the partner application process. Partners submit accurate event and experience information, honour bookings made through MIO, and comply with platform listing and visibility rules.
Partnership tiers, commercial terms, and Studio access are defined in separate partner agreements or onboarding materials. These public terms apply to the application process and ongoing use of partner-facing tools unless a signed agreement states otherwise.
5. Membership tiers and access
MIO offers multiple membership tiers: Mio Pulse (free), Mio Mag (paid editorial subscription), Mio House (paid lifestyle membership), Mio Patron (invitation-only), and Founder Circle (direct invitation only).
Access to events and content depends on your tier. Mio Patron and Founder Circle are not publicly purchasable. Tier upgrades, downgrades, and invitations are subject to MIO policies and availability.
6. Mio Credits
Mio Credits are internal membership benefits allocated to eligible tiers. They are not cash, money, cryptocurrency, financial assets, or transferable currency. Credits cannot be exchanged outside the MIO platform.
Credits are allocated monthly according to your tier: 100 for Mio House, 200 for Mio Patron, 300 for Founder Circle. Default validity is 60 days from allocation. Rollover and expiry rules may vary by tier and are configurable by MIO.
Every credit movement is logged with a source, status, and timestamp. MIO may adjust, refund, or expire credits according to platform rules and event policies.
7. Bookings, guests, and attendance
Events define their own booking type (instant or request approval), credit cost per person, capacity, and guest rules. You must comply with these rules when reserving.
Bookings generate confirmations with QR codes or digital passes. Attendance is confirmed at check-in. Failure to attend without eligible cancellation may result in forfeited credits.
Guest policies vary by tier and event. MIO House, Patron, and Founder Circle members have different guest allowances as described on each event page.
8. Referrals and invitations
Mio House members may share referral links or codes. Referrals are tracked and visible to MIO for review and fraud prevention. Referrals do not automatically grant premium tier access.
Mio Patron remains invitation-only. Patron members may recommend up to 10 candidates per calendar year; each requires MIO approval before invitation. Founder Circle is direct invitation only with no member referral mechanism.
9. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation and credit refund eligibility depend on the event's stated policy and the timing of your cancellation. Eligible refunds return credits to your wallet in refunded status.
If an event is cancelled by the organiser or MIO, credits are refunded according to platform rules. MIO may override refund decisions in exceptional circumstances.
10. Account termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting MIO. Unused credits at termination are forfeited unless otherwise required by applicable law.
MIO may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of terms, fraudulent activity, abuse of the referral system, or conduct harmful to the community or partners.
11. Limitation of liability
MIO curates and facilitates access to third-party cultural experiences. We are not the organiser of partner events and are not liable for changes, cancellations, or conduct at event venues beyond our refund policies.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MIO's liability is limited to the fees you paid to MIO in the twelve months preceding the claim.
12. Changes to terms
MIO may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or platform notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Contact
